About Postess.com |
|
Postess.com is the first online website to help others get noticed faster and allow employers to get a better view of an interested individual. The idea of the website came from an incident on MySpace. Everyone knows that Myspace is a place where you can hang out and post all the cool and fun stuff that you do – but something was missing. MySpace is fun, but what benefits do others get out of it in the long term? Postess.com, owner and operator of Postess.com, browsed through other people’s profiles and found that not only did MySpace not have a long term benefit, but it can be used as part of a background check by employers – and what they find could be damaging. This led Postess Owner to come up with the idea of presenting yourself to employers with a free online professional profile. |
|
The development of a Postess.com professional profile can counter the MySpace, Facebook, and other social networking personal profiles that could easily be checked by current or future employers. You can have a personal profile with lots of information about your personal life, etc., but if you don't have a professional profile to counter the impressions made by your personal profile, employers only learn about your personal profile. Employers often judge potential candidates by the personal information on their profiles and make character judgments based on those profiles. Those judgments can sometimes be good, but more often than not, what’s in a personal profile is not what employers are looking for. The owner of Postess.com, Postess.com, wanted to help employers get a better idea of an applicant than just looking at the resume and cover letter information. |
| Postess.com was developed and launched publicly on October 1st of 2006. The launch of Postess.com was a hard and long journey, as Postess Owner had to decide on what types of information on a profile would help make employers see you more professionally. Postess Owner turned to a Human Resource department for a good idea of what information employers would like to know, and then assembled those questions and added them to Postess.com. |
Additionally, Postess Owner added more features to the site such as the ability to upload music, videos, photos, resumes, and cover letters. This allows users to have their own private area to store important information that can be accessed from anywhere in the world at any time – all you have to do is log into your account and your uploaded files are there at your fingertips. Postess Owner is now working on creating a resume layout to allow users to create, save, and edit their resumes directly from their profiles. The update of the whole site is expected to be done by January of 2008.
